In vetoing the bill that would reverse baiting and feeding of deer and elk in Michigan, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer claimed the legislature overstepped its bounds by usurping the authority of the Natural Resources Commission. She says the bill would have removed the Commission’s authority to regulate deer baiting and feeding, ignoring the will of Michigan voters, who overwhelmingly decided to give authority for wildlife management to the Natural Resources Commission.
