The chair of the Escanaba Planning Commission says she hopes the city council will see that tonight’s decision on taking over the duties of the planning commission “is more detrimental than is necessary.”
In an email to City Manager Patrick Jordan, Christine Williams says the “city has a good group of commissioners who work hard to uphold the duties they have been asked to perform.”
The city council tonight will consider assuming the duties of the planning commission until the commission is able to meet a quorum at two consecutive regular meetings. The council will also hold a first hearing on reducing the planning commission from 9 to 7 members.
