Suicide was a major problem in the area this year before the Coronavirus pandemic and the isolation caused by the shutdowns and social distancing continues to fuel mental health problems in the community. Racing at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba Saturday night is dedicated to spread the word about the suicide and the help that is available to those suffering with mental health issues. Christian Groleau was a racer at the U.P. International Raceway at the fairgrounds. He took his life in January. His friend Aly Sullivan is one of those putting on the Groleau Memorial Race Saturday.
