Testing at the Delta County Airport has reveled high levels of PFAS chemicals. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are man-made chemicals used in firefighting foam that do not break down over time.

Delta County Airport Manager Andrea Nummilien told Delta County Commissioners that the study has confirmed water and soil contamination at the airport.
