Fittante talks about efforts to bring U.P. economy back, urges businesses to apply for PPP

InvestUP CEO Marty Fittante says hospitals in the U.P. are ready to continue non-essential procedures. He says hospitals in the Upper Peninsula are hurting financially and are prepared to handle the Coronavirus crisis and still be able to manage the healthcare needs of the rest of the population. He also urges U.P. businesses not to wait to apply for Payroll Protection Program funds.

 

 

Players de Noc presents a virtual performance of original play 'Bare Cabin'

Players de Noc is having a virtual performance of a local play written by JJ Spaulding. It is called "Bare Cabin." Jamie Peterson says it will be performed from the actor’s homes at a time we are isolated. The premiere will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, on the Players de Noc Facebook page. It will also be posted on Youtube that will be linked from PlayersdeNoc.org.

 

 

McBroom worries about U.P. as governor considers stay home extension

State Sen. Ed McBroom says he expects to know within the next two weeks whether the Coronavirus becomes a burden on the healthcare system in the Upper Peninsula or if social distancing works and keeps the disease more manageable. However, as the governor considers extending the stay at home order, McBroom worries that the effect on the U.P. economy will be far greater.
