The Detroit Pistons managed a season-low in points last night in a 104-81 loss to the Jazz at Utah.  Derrick Rose scored 20 points and Andre Drummond added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Pistons who visit the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday night.

High School Hockey over the weekend, the Escanaba Eskymos got by Alpena 4-3 Saturday in Alpena. Kyle Krutina scored a short handed goal in the third period for the game winner for the Eskymos.

In High School Girls Basketball tonight, the Escanaba Eskymos welcome Gladstone.  You can hear the game on our sister station Kix 104.7, with tipoff around 5:30.

The Escanaba and Gladstone boys and girls basketball teams will face each other in a doubleheader tomorrow night in Escanaba.  The girls game between the Eskymos and Braves is scheduled to begin at 5:30, with the boys game set for 7:30.

In College Basketball, the Bay College men pulled away late for a 76-59 win over Anoka-Ramsey Sunday in suburban Minneapolis.  Ryan Robinette scored 26 points and Christian Alexander added 13 for the Norse who improve to 8-6 on the season.  Bay will host a four team tournament beginning January 3.

In High School Boys Basketball last night, North Central held off Carney-Nadeau 46-41, Rapid River got by Forest Park 50-44, Mid Peninsula downed Republic-Michigamme 48-40, and Maplewood Baptist beat Big Bay De Noc 85-39.

In High School Gymnastics last night, Escanaba downed Marquette 127.65 to 115.05.  The two teams meet again January 10 in Marquette. In High School Girls Basketball tonight, Bark River Harris is at Rapid River, Gladstone travels to Iron Mountain, Manistique goes to Westwood and Big Bay De Noc visits Maplewood Baptist.

In High School Boys Basketball last night, the Escanaba Eskymos routed Houghton 82-50.  Connor Smale and Carter Hudson scored 17 points apiece for the Eskymos, who improve to 2-1 on the season.  Escanaba is at Cedarburg, Wisconsin Friday night.  Elsewhere, Bark River Harris beat Rapid River 62-53 and Gladstone lost to Marquette 84-54.

In High School Boys Basketball last night, North Central defeated Superior Central 62-34, Carney-Nadeau downed Stephenson 55-36, Big Bay De Noc fell to Munising Baptist 59-37, Norway beat Mid Peninsula 67-38, and Iron Mountain blasted Manistique 77-28.

In Womens College Basketball Sunday, Bay College downed Milwaukee Tech 82-65 at the YMCA Gym in Escanaba.  Taylor Hunter scored 14 points for the Lady Norse, who travel to Minnesota this coming weekend for games Saturday against Western Technical College and Sunday against Anoka-Ramsey.  Bay is now 9-3 on the season.

All of the high school boys and girls basketball games scheduled for last night in the area were postponed because of the weather.  On the boys side, Bark River Harris at Mid Peninsula has been re-scheduled for January 3.  Makeups for the other boys games scheduled for last night will be announced later.

In High School Boys Basketball tonight, weather permitting, North Central is at Rapid River, Mid Peninsula welcomes Bark River Harris, Carney-Nadeau entertains North Dickinson and Big Bay de Noc travels to Maplewood Baptist.  Big Bay de Noc is also at Maplewood Baptist in girls basketball this evening.

In High School Girls Basketball last night, Nicole Kamin scored the game winning basket as time expired to lift the Escanaba Eskymos past Negaunee 50-48.  Marquette edged Gladstone 42-39, Mid Peninsula nipped North Central 43-42, Rapid River downed Norway 53-46, and Carney-Nadeau defeated Forest Park 45-37.

In High School Boys Basketball last night, Carney-Nadeau at Rapid RIver was postponed because of the weather, along with Stephenson at North Central.  No make-up dates have been announced for those games.

High School Hockey from Saturday, the Escanaba Eskymos finished a weekend sweep of Soo Saint Marie with a 7-2 victory.  The Eskymos scored five goals in the first 10 minutes of the first period to take a 5-0 lead and never looked back.  Hockey tonight, Esky visits Negaunee, weather permitting.

In High School Girls Basketball last night, North Central downed Rapid River 60-38 and Manistique defeated Munising 64-39.  The Gladstone at Gwinn game scheduled for last night has been postponed until February 13.  Tonight, the Escanaba Eskymos travel to West Iron County to take on the Wykons.

In High School Girls Basketball last night, the Escanaba Eskymos opened the season with a 55-46 victory over Marquette. Taylor Ray scored 17 points and Nicole Kamin added 15 for the Lady Eskymos, who travel to West Iron County Friday night.
